Walt Frazier Compares Knicks to Past Championship Squads

The upcoming NBA season is nearing, and the Knicks have been tipped as genuine contenders for the championship. This feeling is bubbling not only from fans and experts but also from Walt “Clyde” Frazier, a legendary Knicks player.

Frazier was a guest during the Fanatics Fest NYC with current Knicks Stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart; he addressed them as part of his role as one of the most important figures in the team’s championship runs of the 1970s.

Zach Braziller reported his words at the New York Post, who opted to deliver his message confidently about past successes. He remarked, “I see the vibes,” relating the present squad to the teams he had once led to championships.

“I see a lot of similarities with [our] championship teams, starting with the coach. [Tom Thibodeau] is a lot like Red Holzman. He holds the guys accountable, and they’re defensive-oriented, and the players actually like each other.” This comes at a time when the Eastern Conference seems fiercely contested.

The reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, are still intact, and their core group makes it easy for them to be favored once again. Nonetheless, considering teams like Philadelphia, which contain players like Joel Embiid and Paul George, no such thing as a foregone conclusion exists in this conference.

Knicks Poised for Redemption

With Mikal Bridges added lately, The Knicks are positioned strongly within this elite group to challenge some top competition. “I think this is going to be our year,” coupled with caution about health being critical for their campaign, came from Clyde Frazier.

There is palpable anticipation in New York now. This season is different from others that might have brought optimism without any evidence because it provides an opportunity for redemption. It is a long season filled with obstacles and needing some luck occasionally, but Frazier says, “the Knicks can play at that level.” In fact, if everything goes as planned and they stay healthy with the same attitude, this might be the year that brings back the Knicks’ glory days in a way that resonates with their glorious past.
