Klay Thompson is to start a different chapter in his NBA journey as he starts wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey come next season. This will also be the first time that the “Splash Brothers” will not be on the same team, marking a huge turn in Thompson’s career.
Thompson who was taken up by the Mavericks this off-season has already been building strong relationships with his new teammates. In Los Angeles for summer training, Thompson was photographed having some down-time together with his fellow Mavericks players.
In an Instagram story posted by Quentin Grimes, the guard filmed his teammate jumping into water from a boat and it displayed how cool he usually behaves during team bonding. At his unveiling press conference, Thompson spoke about why he was excited about joining the Mavs.
“Sometimes as you play basketball or work in corporate America or whatever business you may do, sometimes change can bring greatness and when we talk about a new environment could mean wonders,” he said.
Klay Thompson Fresh Start
The four-time NBA champion seems like he is fitting in nicely with the Mavs.
Even though Thompson has fond memories of playing for Golden State Warriors; he just wants to make lots out of his fresh start at Dallas”. I really appreciate my time in Golden State but I wanted something that could re energize me and do something special for the rest of my career,” He said Whether any of his other new colleagues were present during their boat outing at Los Angeles is unknown, though it appears from the video that Klay had already been embraced by Mavericks family.
The voices of several people are audible at the background cheering their newly acquired shooting guard. It is common knowledge that Thompson can adapt and fit into any team that takes him, hence why Dallas could not have made a better acquisition than him.
His laid-back yet focused attitude should mix well within this organization’s culture which was developed over an impressive run to NBA finals last year. As Thompson embarks on this new journey, both he and the Mavericks are hopeful that this change will lead to continued success on the court.
