While transitioning, Tom Brady is implementing a new strategy altogether. It is in reference to Brady’s future endeavors that the NFL has on rulebook specific to his endeavor. When NFL team owners met recently in Minneapolis, a PowerPoint presentation included a slide reading ‘Brady – Broadcast Restrictions.’ These restrictions will only be imposed upon Brady himself and none of the company’s other entities.
However, these restrictions were put into place after several team owners expressed discomfort with Brady’s proposition of being both a broadcaster and a team owner. This was also the case on a lot of points concerning the 47-year-old’s potential ownership of the Raiders.
It was among the restrictions imposed to him, that Brady would not be allowed to visit the premises of another franchise and watch practice sessions and production meetings either in person or virtually, ESPN reported. He would also avoid interacting with players and coaches before every game, a restriction which could reduce his efficiency as a broadcaster.
Tom Brady Added Challenges
In addition to these specific broadcasting rules, Brady may have to take note of other unacceptable practices common to the owners of NFL teams. Though he would be sitting in the commentator’s box, more than a few critics have said that Brady will have to be careful in regard to speaking against the officials’ decisions during the game.
They may take the form of monetary penalties or even a suspension from work. In addition, he will fall under the gambling policy of the NFL which would only allow him “social contact with officials of other clubs on the literal level”.
If these “Brady rules” are to come into effect then at least 24 out of the 32 NFL owners have to approve Brady’s buy-out of 10 percent stake in the Raiders. Other questions have been raised with relation to the value for which Brady intends to buy a proportion of the company.
From the time of the first report in March on the subject of his ownership, not much has happened as regard progress and Brady is still dangling. Moreover, for now, while the legal issues behind the formalization of ownership are still pending, Brady will perform the functions of a special correspondent of FOX Sports and will work with Kevin Burkhardt in the broadcasting team.
Despite these preparations, Mikhail Likhodeev will still have some sort of adjustment to the responsibilities in question and that might be difficult. Brady’s former teammate, Drew Bledsoe, was not able to withhold a cheerful word about Brady’s wellbeing.
“I know that Tommy will work it to death,” Bledsoe commented. ‘I assume, as always, I shall get kind of tired of his squeaky-ass voice, but I know he will perform well in detail calling the games.’
