Stephen A. Smith Blasts Steelers QB Russell Wilson

Recently, Stephen A. Smith expressed anger towards Russell Wilson, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, during an episode of First Take. This occurred after he criticized Donald Trump and turned his attention to how well Wilson performed in the team’s training camp.

In his debut preseason game with the Steelers against the Buffalo Bills, Wilson, who joined from the Denver Broncos, where he had lost his starting job, performed poorly. The duo played all four quarters but only managed three points.

The outcome has raised doubts concerning the Steelers’ offensive strength this year. The competition between Wilson and Fields for the starting quarterback position is intense. Pittsburgh signed these two players in the off season following their departure from other teams.

Mike Tomlin initially chose Wilson as a starter, but things are not apparent now due to recent struggling performances and injury concerns. It is not a good sign when the first-team offense cannot score even one touchdown against a defense made up of backups from the opposing team, as seen in their match against the Buffalo Bills.

Thus, there is no doubt about its appropriateness this year, given what happened last night by way of performance.

Russell Wilson’s Response Backfires

On Wednesday, Wilson addressed some of these issues to try to calm down fans who may have been worried about this poor show.

However, Stephen A. Smith took it personally. During “First Take” on Thursday, when Molly Qerim directed a question toward Dan Orlovsky, Smith became so mad that he couldn’t keep quiet anymore. He burst out while doing this, stating, “Russell Wilson, you are beginning to p— me off.

Certain things must be said regardless of anything. Russell’s last season was terrible. A sum worth $37.5 million was paid for your release by Seattle. You know for sure that Denver decided to settle your contract”. “Justin Fields is fighting you for a starting job, man!

I mean, it’s neither Josh Allen nor Lamar Jackson. It’s Justin Fields! And he’s sitting over there with that cute little smile on his face…talking about how everybody needs to calm down. You are not Aaron Rodgers!

You can’t say that!” Finally, Smith said, “The only thing you brought to Denver was Ciara. Act like it’s your career, Russell Wilson. Compete for the job”. Smith’s outbursts have increased the debate about Wilson’s future in Pittsburgh, making fans and analysts wonder if he will be able to come through or if these are his best days behind him.
